The venal and loathsome Hazel Blears survived a vote of no-confidence tonight at her Labour party meeting in Salford tonight held in Swinton Town hall, by a margin of 31 votes to 13.
Anger her about expense abuses has been moving between simmering and boiling over during the last few weeks.

Jerry Hicks got a pretty credible vote in his attempt to get elected to Bristol City Council for Lockleaze, coming third behind the Lib Dems and Labour with almost 15% of the vote. Jo Benefield got 4% in Ashley ward. Less happily Mo Ouammi won 97 votes or 2.6% in Easton.
